What Is the Average Cost for Window Tint?

The average cost for window tint for your car typically ranges from $100 to $900. Several factors affect the cost for window tint on your car, including:

  • The size of your automobile
  • Brand of window tint
  • Window tint type
  • Window tint material
  • Number of windows
  • Size and complexity of windows
  • Type of window tint service: professional tint shop, mobile tinter, or auto detailing company all charge different prices
  • Location of your window tint installer
  • DIY or no

Don’t mess around with your automobile’s window tinting. CMA's Chevrolet of Martinsburg has professional installers who will get the job done right the first time.

How to Remove Window Tint

Has your old window tint outlasted its usefulness? Did you change your mind about having window tint? Removing window tint is relatively easy. You just need a steamer, razor edge, and residue remover to accomplish the job.

1. Roll the Window Down an Inch or Two

Rolling down the window a bit creates a small gap that allows for better access to the edges of the window tint. You can easily remove the tint without much fuss.

2. Get a Steamer

A professional or clothing steamer will work for this task. When the steam interacts with the adhesive, it loosens the window tint, making it easier to lift and peel off.

3. Start Peeling Carefully

Carefully lift and peel the corner using a razor blade. This will take time as you gradually peel off the tint from the window. Be careful because the razor blade is sharp. YOu don’t want to damage the window or hurt yourself.

4. Pull Slowly

Pull slowly and evenly to avoid any potential tearing or damage to the window or defroster. Take your time because if you pull too fast or too hard, you’ll have to use the razor blade or steamer again.

5. Remove Glue Residue

Any leftover glue residue can be removed with a residue remover like nail polish remover on a microfiber cloth.

Are Tinted Windows Illegal?

No, tinted windows are not illegal in WV. Laws about tinted windows vary by state. In WV, tinting must allow more than 35% of the light in. And you can only have non-reflective tinting on the top 5 inches of your windshield. For Virginia, window tint must let in 50% of light on the front windows and 35% on the back windows.

What Is PPF for Cars?

PPF for cars is paint protection film. It is a urethane-based, thin, flexible, transparent, adhesive-backed layer that our technicians can apply to your car’s body panels to protect the paint. Investing in PPF for cars is a way to protect your paint job for many years!

How Long Does PPF Last?
