The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV
Electric-powered vehicles are making a splash across the globe, as every car maker looks towards the future. But it’s not just small sedans that are making the waves in the all-electric pool – now, even the traditional American pickup truck is jumping in feet first! Chevy has jumped at the chance to be a leader in the field, with the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV. Brand new to the Chevy line-up, it’s a meshing of a beloved platform with a cutting-edge powertrain.
The first-ever all-electric Silverado comes built on GM’s Ultium platform, a revolutionary flexible battery architecture that allows for customization for vehicles while retaining the same structure.
Every 2024 Chevy Silverado EV will come with standard all-wheel-drive, thanks to the dual-motor electric powertrain set-up. In the base Silverado WT trim that will be the first on market, this will produce 510 horsepower and 615 lb-ft of torque, for incredible acceleration and easy cruising. This will also allow the WT to tow up to 10,000 pounds off the bat! While not every trim has been revealed, top-tier models are expected to churn out 754 horsepower and 785 lb-ft of torque, and tow up to 20,000 pounds, as Chevy seeks to make an impact! Four-wheel steering, which provides the Silverado with one of the tightest turning radiuses on the market, is available.
Chevy also has the Silverado EV set up for excellent range and easy recharging. The EPA has estimated the Chevy Silverado WT work truck will get 450 miles of range from a full charge. Powerful DC fast charging capabilities are expected to help the Silverado EV to regain roughly 100 miles of range in only 10 minutes of charging. 240-volt Level 2 charging is available with professional charger installation, while standard Level 1 120-volt charging can be done anywhere you have an outlet to connect with!
It’s clear from the outset that the Silverado EV is built differently. But it’s not until you get closer that you’ll see just how different it can be.
The available 24-inch aluminum wheels are a hint at what the Silverado EV can do. Sleek, aerodynamic design provides the Silverado EV with a modern appearance. It’s in the back that the true party starts, with the Multi-Flex Midgate. This provides the ultimate in versatility – the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV can operate with a standard bed size, a 60-40 split that expands the cargo floor to almost 11 feet, and the full pass-through that allows even massive sofas to fit into the expanded bed!
Inside the Silverado EV, you’ll get a range of trims from the dark plastic durability of the work trucks to leather and high-end cloth coverings found in the top-of-the-line trims. The low-rise door sills will offer greater vision around the vehicle, and keep out of the line of vision. Paired with the optional panoramic sunroof, this helps to open up the interior – albeit an interior that is already roomy. There’s seating for five in the four-door cab, and rear-seat passengers will be able to stretch out thanks to 44.3 inches of maximum leg room.
Modern Tech Throughout
Of course, there’s tech under the hood. But the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV is going to have tech throughout. Today’s integrated vehicles require high levels of connectivity – of course, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will be standard for hooking up your smartphone. Google Built-In will also be provided on most Silverado EV models, along with Amazon Alexa. The goal is to make the Silverado EV the most connected truck on the road! With multiple infotainment touchscreens available, including a massive 17-inch diagonal LCD freeform screen on the top-end RST trim, you’ll be able to navigate through apps and navigation with ease. All of this can be accessed through the MyChevrolet Mobile App.
With seven trims expected to hit the market by the end of 2024, the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV looks to bring its full force to the streets!
